1.What drew you to Street Photography?
I was drawn by the idea of capturing moments that will only happen once and never again. I’ve been inspired by Magnum, Reuters, Hamburger Eyes, and a lot of great photographers. I live in southern california and am surrounded by so many interesting cities and places that theres always something to see and capture on a daily basis.

2.Do you do any creative or other types of photography?
Besides street photography I also do portraiture and some studio work. I work with recording artists and a lot of interesting people. I try to be well rounded in photography and try different types and methods out when I can.

3.How did you start getting your name and pictures out there?
It just started by showing my friends my work, and they showed other people and basically word of mouth at first. I made a website and posted photos on different websites and things have snowballed since then. I’ve done a couple exhibitions and a few art shows in L.A. and just continue to try to produce quality work and make a name for myself.

4.How much time to you spend shooting pictures versus marketing?

Its about 50/50 right now. I’am trying to produce photo books and prints but I haven’t mastered the marketing side as of yet so I just concentrate on creating art and sharing it.

5.How do you work ethics into Street Photography? What won’t you shoot?
When I go into the streets to shoot I try to be casual and blend in as much as I can. Everything is fair game as long as nobody is getting hurt but I want to be as honest as possible. I’m there to document and show things as they are. I don’t get into peoples faces and I try to be as respectful as I can, a smile and a nod can go a long way.

6.Do you use Canon, Nikon, Lieca, or what type of camera and computer do you use?

In the past I’ve used different point and shoots, rangefinders and a nikon n80 with a 50mm but currently I’m using a nikon d800 with a 35mm 1.4. I prefer the best image quality I can get over traditional cameras used for street photography. All the photos go into lightroom on my sony vaio.

7.Have you ever been confronted by police or unhappy people? If so what happened?

I have never been confronted by the police or any person while out shooting. I’ve probably been fortunate not to have any problems.

8.Do you use Flickr, Google +, 500PX or other photo sites?
Right now I’m just on flickr and have not tried any of the others as of yet.

9.Do you watermark or logo your pictures you put up on the web?
I do put a small watermark on my images on flickr just to have my name there incase its shared on the web. I don’t watermark on my website so the image looks as good as possible.

10.What makes a Good Street Photo different from a Snapshot on the street?
I feel having a good eye, experience, and confidence is what separates a good street photo from a snapshot. Anyone can take a photo, but its about knowing where to stand and knowing when to press the shutter.

1.	What drew you to Street Photography?

I live in New York City. I’m surrounded by it. If I lived in Colorado, I’d probably shoot landscapes.

2. Do you do any creative or other types of photography?

Not really. I shoot cityscapes and other urban scenes without people in the frame, which some would consider non-Street. For myself, I shoot kids and travel.

3. How did you start getting your name and pictures out there?

I’m not sure it is out there. Flickr is my only current means of distribution.

4.How much time to you spend shooting pictures versus marketing?

I spend very little time marketing, which may be why my name isn’t out there.

5. How do you work ethics into Street Photography? What won’t you shoot?

I believe that it’s wrong to take someone’s picture without permission, and more importantly, wrong to post that picture on the internet. Having said that, it’s not so wrong that I can’t live with myself. More like trespassing than murder. Still, I don’t want to compound the transgression by being cruel, or by shooting Joel-Peter Witkin-style photos of the crippled and the deformed, or by doing something in post-processing that isn’t true to the image.

I also believe that good art is its own justification. Picasso’s various mistresses may not have been thrilled by the way he painted them, but the world, I think, is a better place with those portraits in it. On the other hand, Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will may have some technical merit, but not enough to justify promoting the Nazis.

All very subjective, no doubt, but such is the danger of any human endeavor.

6. Do you use Canon, Nikon, Lieca, or what type of camera and computer do you use?

I use a Leica X1, my first digital camera. By last summer, my dedication to film seemed more like stubborness than anything else. I planned to scrap my beloved Contax T2 for a Fuji X100. I pestered my local camera store, but the X100 was repeatedly delayed. One day, out of boredom, I asked to see the overpriced Leica. As soon as I held it, I knew that I would not be leaving the store without it. The auto-focus might not be the fastest, but I can live with it. When I shoot street, I almost always zone focus.

7. Have you ever been confronted by police or unhappy people? If so what happened?

Never by the police, but I have faced a few angry people. They each looked like they had outstanding warrants, and in each case, the threat of violence was unmistakeable. But it defused pretty quickly when I explained what I was doing. Each person insisted that I delete their image.

8. Do you use Flickrr, Google +, 500PX or other photo sights?

I use Flickr. I don’t have anything against the other photo sights, I just haven’t tried them.

9. Do you watermark or logo your pictures you put up on the web?

No.

10. What makes a Good Street Photo different from a Snapshot on the street?

Not much. The snapshot is likely to be posed, which isn’t what I want.
